Visalia, Tulare County
Highway 198 runs east from Visalia into the Sierra Nevada foothills and reaches the entrance to Sequoia National Park in under an hour. The park was created in 1890, the second in the country, to protect its groves of giant sequoias. In summer a shuttle carries visitors from downtown Visalia up to the Giant Forest.
